my very busy weekend

hello faithful readers! as the summer draws to it's close, mommy and daddy and i have been trying to enjoy every last minute of it! we get a lot of stuff done but that can lead to some very busy weekends! i'd like to tell you about my weekend!

on friday, uncle josh and aunt sara invited us to celebration on the grand.

Our little family at Celebration on the Grand

there was a lot of good food there that mommy and daddy got to eat. i was sad i didn't get any, but i did get to do one thing that i really love, and that is SLEEP! check it out, i slept right in the baby bjorn for a long time.

How Dexter spent his time at Celebration on the Grand

i drooled right through that thing too. daddy likes to tell people that i drooled a puddle so big he could have wrung it out! that is disgusting! by the end of the night though, i had found my second wind. we went through the art museum and as we left i was telling daddy how much i loved it. he was pleased.

End of the night at Celebration on the Grand

on saturday, mommy and daddy and me went on our usual saturday morning walk to starbucks! mommy and daddy decked me out for the walk since it was pretty chilly. i am a summer baby so i don't have a lot of winter clothes and unfortunately, it looked like they had dressed me in the dark... a red vest with a blue striped sweater? what were they THINKING?  and that hat!

Dexter's all decked out to go for a walk in the chilly weather! Unfortunately, his parents dressed him in the dark.

i had a good time though - even if i do look like a goofball in this picture:

and mommy was trying to share her addiction with me. i didn't take a drink though. that stuff tastes terrible!  i don't care how much milk and sugar you put in it - yuck!

Mommy shares her addiction. C'mon Dexter, one little sip won't hurt...

later on saturday nana came over! i haven't seen nana in a LONG time, practically half of my life! so i was really excited. i was really good too and i showed her how i can almost stand on my own and how i babble ALL the time. she even brought me a little toy cement truck! that's 'cause grandpa's in the cement business and they start 'em out early over there. anyway, nana and i played in the kitchen for a while!

Nana thinking about how Dexter is the cutest little boy in the universe!

after that nana and mommy and daddy watched some of the video from when i was really young and marveled about how big i was getting. i just slept on nana's lap. that grown up stuff is BORING.

on sunday we went to church as usual. except this sunday i went to the nursery - it was ok. by the end i had a REALLY dirty pants, but all in all i was really good! we had lunch at grandma and grandpa's house but mommy and daddy's camera wasn't charged so i wasn't able to take any pictures. after that though we went home and i took a long nap with daddy. he was so comfy!

but we couldn't sleep too long! we had to meet uncle josh and aunt sara, and nana and grandpa, and aunt ev and uncle john for dinner at rose's.

that place is so great! but it was cold outside and i was cranky for some of the meal. after we got home though, i was all smiles and giggles! then i got to go to bed. i was only an hour late for bedtime, but my crib felt so nice!

all in all it was a pretty great weekend!

Block party

This post is VERY overdue (much like I was with Dexter...) but I wanted to post it anyway.  A few weeks ago we had our annual block party.  A few people on the block had met Dexter, but not all.  So, naturally, many people attended the block party just to oooh and aaah over him.  Ok, maybe not, but still, lots of people wanted to hold him and see him!

block party!

It was around Dexter's naptime, and nearing bedtime when we went out, so he was pretty sleepy.  He seemed to just slump over wherever he ended up. First on Steven:

And then on Cami:

He didn't sleep the whole time though.  He did get up to take some photos with his mommy and daddy!

Daddy also made him a super cool tie-dyed onesie. He'll grow out of it soon - but 'til then he'll be the grooviest baby on the block!

Dave, Jess, Maggie and Amelia came to visit us a few weeks ago while Jess was in town for a conference. Maggie was also showing off for the camera! I also showed her around the yard and we found pretty flowers and noisy grass!

a "fun" day with aunt eleanor and mom makes me do tummy time again and i don't hate it quite as much

hi everybody! it's been a long time since i posted, but you know, being a baby is hard work - especially if you are some sort of giant baby - like me! things with me have been great. last week mommy went to work one day and my aunt eleanor watched me. we went for a few walks, visited some babies at mommy's work, and i spit up on her a LOT! as you can see from these pictures we had a lot of "fun." look how "happy" i am!

a "fun" day with aunt eleanor

and this is what i looked like when aunt eleanor told me i needed to get out of my pajamas already because it was already noon. i told her "hey lady, you're the one who has to dress me. i got a closet full of cute clothes!"

i am NOT having fun

like i said though, i made sure to spit up on her THREE times that day - once in front of mommy so she would know how much "fun" i had all day!

anyhoo... a few days later mommy got some good pictures of me doing tummy time again. i've been getting a lot better at it and i don't cry nearly as much as before. i know, before i said it was torture, but i figure she keeps making me do it, so when in rome.... you know? and i really am so cute while i do it. want to see how cute i am doing tummy time? i knew you'd say yes!
