These days Joel is doing anything for a laugh. Recently, it included making noises like in this video. He just started doing it and now Dexter thinks it is HILARIOUS, as you can see! You can also see what happens to Dexter once he spots a camera. Immediate stoppage of everything! Enjoy!

We now have another tooth. It is slowly emerging on the bottom row - right next to the previous one. That is all.

bathtime!
today was a bath day. i'm not quite sure about the bath yet, but mommy and daddy keep trying! i don't cry or anything, but i don't really understand what all the water is for. it feels weird and i don't like to put my feet in it. when they put me in the bath i always have to catch my breath. then, after they put me in the bath, they put this silmy white stuff all over me. i thnk they call it baby wash? then, mommy fills a cup with that water stuff and pours it over me. i don't understand why mommy won't let me eat the cup! i really don't like the water on my face. it seems like when it gets on my face i should breathe it in, but mommy and daddy always try to tell me not to do that. but what do they know. i thought i woudl share some pictures from my bath time too, because who doesn't love a picture of a baby in a bath?
here is me in the rinsing tub. mommy and daddy apparantly don't understand that this tub is way too small for me...

and here is me cuddling in a towel with my mommy after my bath.

What's the difference between a Dexter and a Dextersaurus Rex?
......TEETH!!
That's right, this little boy got a tooth! This morning Joel came into the bathroom and announced the little chomper! It's the front tooth on Dexter's right. I have been checking on and off for the last few days, not really thinking anything was coming of it. He's been REALLY drooly, and has loved chomping and chewing on anything in sight, but other than that he's been same old (perfect) Dexter! I hadn't been able to see or feel anything. However, today, here is the tooth in all it's glory.

Well, it's really hard to see, but believe me, it's there! And here it is in use! Nom nom nom!!

We also got the chewing in action. The Dextersaurus!

I love how he shakes Joel's finger like a little puppy. Hee! This whole tooth thing is pretty strange though. I feel like it's a really big step - now he's so much older! Now he's not just a baby, he's a baby WITH A TOOTH! The whole thing was so much sweeter too since Joel discovered it. We were reading through Joel's (meticulously filled out) baby book and saw that his daddy discovered his first tooth too.
So, as cliche as it is... Our baby's growing up. I'll leave you with the little Dextersaurus himself reaching for you! Careful! He bites!

A Big Day For a Lot of Reasons
November 4 was a big day around here. Not only was it Nana's birthday, or the day the country elected the first African American President in our history, it was also the day that Dexter first rolled over! I was playing with Dexter in his play gym before Joel got home. He was a little upset, but nothing too big. Laying on his back, all of the sudden he hiked up his legs, swung them to the side and his body followed! He had rolled for the very first time. Of course, he didn't really like thta position, so he rolled back! I tried to catch a few of the rolls on my phone since he kept rolling back and forth, back and forth etc, but I wasn't quick enough. However, I did catch one little roll. Enjoy!

my first halloween!
welcome to the spoooooookiest post ever to be on this website! ok, not really. however, i really wanted to tell you all about my first halloween.
this year i was a lion. mommy got me a costume from my daycare lady and it was perfect! it was a little big, but you couldn't really tell. sadly, i was kind of cranky on halloween. maybe i needed a nap. or maybe i just didn't like wearing all that make-up on my face. who knows.
we wanted to get out of the house early, so around 5:45 mommy and daddy got me all dressed up and we headed out the door to uncle josh and aunt sara's. it was my very first house EVER! uncle josh goes crazy on halloween, so his house was kind of scary. but we weren't afraid. mommy carried me while daddy held the video camera. when we all got up to the door we all yelled "trick or treat!" and when uncle josh and aunt sara came out they just about died because i was seriously so cute. uncle josh was so overjoyed he threw a huge handful of candy into my bag. (mommy was really happy about that!) here is a picture of all of us!
i was a little overhwelmed so i cried a little, but mommy and daddy let me have my pacifier and then i was fine again! uncle josh and aunt sara said i was still cute anyway. well, our next stop was at aunt louise and uncle timothy's house. we walked up to the door and yelled again! aunt louise and uncle timothy had some of mommy's favorite candies - milky way and almond joy! i grabbed a milky way for her - i mean... for me. but i coudn't leave without a picture of all of us!
aunt louise loved my costume. she had to turn me around to show off my tail. oh, the indignity of it all.
since i was getting crankier by the minute we had to hurry next over to grandma and grandpa waid's house. by the time we got there it was almost completely dark. they were handing out good candy this year too! none of that bit-o-honey stuff! grandpa held out the bowl and let me pick whatever i wanted. i didn't really know what to do until grandma started handing me milky ways. i knew right what to do with them once i got them in my hand though - the same thing i do with EVERYTHING these days! straight into the mouth. i kept dropping them on the porch but grandma kept handing me new ones while grandpa snuck the slimy ones into my bag. they don't really taste as good as mommy says. they just taste a little plasticy and the consistancy is not very good either. oh well! here is a picture of me with grandpa and grandma waid.
we went inside and talked for a bit and mommy got this cute close-up of my lion face - even though i have my pacifier in. hey, lions can't be ferocious all the time!
and here you can see my lion costume in it's entirety. daddy was making me be a scary lion!
all in all it was a great first halloween! daddy said mommy had to leave all my candy until i am old enough to eat it myself. but mommy said no way! but that's ok, i'd give it to mommy anyway. she's my favorite. shh! don't tell daddy!
